Black Friday Contest

Perhaps you, dear reader, are familiar with the traditional 'holiday' of Black Friday: the day following Thanksgiving when the country suddenly turns its mind to the upcoming holiday season and rushes into stores nationwide with the fury of a billion rabid baboons. Stories abound of customers and salespeople injured in such debacles, and at times the demand for a single item causes national uproar.

What, then, is this Blackest of Fridays? The epitome of capitalism, the height of greed, an embodiment of furious materialism? Or is it something kinder, stranger, deeper? Deviants =dp2007 and ~NightmareXClockwork want your opinion.

They wish, however, for you to know this: your interpretation of Black Friday does not have to be related to the buying spree we all know and love. If you have a character, scene, creature, building, or anything else you think fits the name, they would be overjoyed to accept it.

The Rules for this new contest are as follows:

While your interpretation of Black Friday does not have to be economic in spirit (indeed, creativity regarding the concept is welcomed and encouraged), it is asked of you that your submissions are in fact related to the theme. If necessary, include an explanation in the artist's comments section of your piece. NightmareXClockwork in particular behooves the reader to keep this in mind.

All mediums and types of art are fair game, with the exception of photomanips and photography. Pictures may be used for reference or the like, but the judges do ask that the reader refrain from using photography in their entries.

Do to try enjoy the competition. Dp2007 and NightmareXClockwork wish this to be lighthearted and whimsical affair, and they aim to avoid strife at all costs. In short: Have fun!

Prizes are being decided as you, fair reader, peruse this notice. As soon as the judges have decided upon a suitable reward, the public will be informed posthaste.

The current deadline for all entries is set at the Twelfth of December, Year 2008. If there are any inquiries to be had, make no hesitations in asking one of the two judges.
